Description

Fluorocarbon Pure is totally different to our other lines. It is a real Fluorocarbon and not a coated nylon.

Fluorocarbon resists sunlight much, much more than nylon lines and does not degrade the same. It also does not absorb water like nylon.

Being Fluorocarbon it’s Specific Gravity is much higher than Nylon and so it is denser and heavier. Once under the water’s surface it sinks faster.
It is stiffer than nylon and resists twists and spinning more. This can be a big advantage when constantly casting and retrieving especially from a distance. Also the slight stiffness gives a different presentation to a nylon like PREMIUM MONO.

A durable, abrasion resistant line and long lasting for its type. Its formulation makes it a superb hooklength line.

It has a good degree of stretch and so helps with absorbing the lunges of fish especially when under the rod top and at netting range. This stretch means that it doesn’t want to unexpectedly ‘bottom out’ but, with balanced tackle, can give the angler a critical degree of ‘feel’ so the playing technique can be adjusted accordingly. Therefore it makes an excellent hooklength line.

It ties up extremely well and can be used with a wide variety of common knots from Grinner, Palomar, Half Blood, Water as well as Whipping, Snell and even the No-Knot. It has reliable strength for knots which are well tied and lubricated but obviously, as is normal, different knot types provide differing degrees of strength. Fluorocarbon does not like heat caused by friction so unlike nylon, which can often be knotted very successfully without wetting, Fluorocarbon benefits from wetting.

It’s parallel wound to keep the line as smooth as possible and vastly reduce the possibility of overlaps and the rippling commonly associated with standard ‘cross’ line winding processes. This then helps to keep it smooth and supple and makes for a ‘straighter’ line. This process is very slow and obviously costs more but makes for a much nicer line.

Being available in 50m spools only means that it is aimed directly at those tying hooklengths and Trout leaders. The spools are a nice compact size and so they can be kept in your seatbox, tackle box or rucksack to use on the bank.

Diameters and breaking stains cover the most commonly required sizes for Hooklengths and Trout leaders. The higher B/S sizes are far from thick and the increased stiffness is a big benefit in helping to avoid wind knots and tangles. Diameters are as accurate as possible and with Fluorocarbon not being Hygroscopic like nylon are generally more accurate than nylon.

Pure Fluorocarbon is not quite as strong as nylon diameter for diameter and when compared like-for-like.
