These are lovely floats being not too bulbous and with a slightly body down design – a fairly typical general purpose stillwater shape. Available in sizes 0.2g up to 0.6g these, if you use the rough guide of 0.1g/foot (30cm), depths up to about 6ft (1.8m) depending on wind of course.
C3 have the more refined 1.25mm hollow tips whereas C4 have slightly bigger 1.75mm hollow tips. So neither is too delicate or too thick so that helps to make these suitable for a wide variety of types and sizes of bait. The 1.75mm thick tips on the C4 also make them a little better when laying some line on the bottom.
Stems are 1.0mm clear fibreglass as this material has an excellent combination of strength and stability. These have relatively long, but not over-long, stems. As with any pole float though stems can be trimmed to suit personal preference (even winder sizes).
The ring eyes, which are placed over the hollow tips for added strength, sit at the very top of the balsa body and are blackened stainless steel. These have a proper, fully formed, ring to hold and protect the line. Some ring eyes are either made of too many coils making them a bit too bulky and also without a single fully formed ring. This can allow the line to become snagged in a corner of the formed wire ‘loop’ and even snagged & broken.
